Rescued Greyhounds

Posted by Jillian - August 3rd, 2010

On the trip to my local pet store, I noticed a travel trailer parked on the side of the store. So when I entered the store I was not surprised to see an adoption event going on. What did surprise me, though, was that the event was to find new homes for rescued greyhounds.

The greyhounds are magnificent dogs. I was very impressed with how sociable they were. They are beautiful dogs, with a variety of markings and coat colors. I sure wish I had a fenced yard to bring one home. It would not be fair to a large dog to not have a fenced yard for them to run.

Hot and Humid

Posted by Jillian - July 15th, 2010

I think if I was Hot, that I would be getting pretty tired of Humidity tagging along this summer. It’s as bad as having a little brother tagging along on a date when you were kids. Not that I ever had to deal with that. Just saying.

Record Rainfalls

Posted by Jillian - May 17th, 2010

The month of May is only half over and we have already set a record for the most rainfall in one month. The floods were horrible and spread out all over middle Tennessee. Many people are still not close to being cleaned up, and here we have two more days of rain this weekend. I am so sick of the mud and the humidity! We need a week of no rain and a little wind to get things dried out and back to normal.

The Cumberland Rising

Posted by Jillian - May 4th, 2010

This is downtown at the riverfront. They say the Cumberland will not crest until later tonight. The waters have crept up to second avenue businesses already. I truly hope that they don’t go as high as Fourth Avenue – that would put the Ryman in danger of being flooded.

Nashville Floods

Posted by Jillian - May 2nd, 2010

Three days of rain and we are having serious problems with flooding. There are areas of homes completely under water. Other areas have people trapped in their attics and on their roofs with no way to safely escape the rising waters. Flash flooding has made many roads impassable.

My home is on high ground and I’m sure that we are safe here. But I am very worried about many friends and co-workers who live in other areas and may be in danger.

Gray Days, Gray Squirrel

Please, Mr Groundhog, I Implore You!

Posted by Jillian - February 2nd, 2010

This morning the groundhog sets our fate for the next 6 weeks. I beg of you, don’t see your shadow. I REALLY need an early spring. This winter has been too cold and too snowy for us to endure much longer. We have record setting snowfalls all over the country. Enough of that mess – let’s have warm days and pretty flowers blooming. Spring is soooo much nicer than winter!
