Horoscopes for Fun

Posted by Jillian - May 26th, 2009

Horoscopes are intended to be for entertainment purposes and you can find horoscopes in a lot of places. I have read my horoscope in the daily morning newspaper ever since high school. There have also been some good magazine columns about horoscopes, and now there are some great internet sites, too.

I signed up for the horoscope readings offered on the MSN home page and now I get an email every day with a horoscope that goes into great detail about what my day has in store for me.

It’s fun and very exciting when the prediction turns out to be right on target!

World of Warcraft Fan

As far as games go, I’ve played games as far back as I can remember. Before I was old enough for school my grandmother had taught me how to play cards, in high school I would play poker with the boys for model car parts, and once I discovered live internet gaming, I was hooked.

There is an awesome role playing game called World of Warcraft that I discovered about 4 years ago. I think by now it is one of the most popular internet games, with over 11 million paid subscribers from all over the world. You can go in there any time of day or night and find plenty of people to play with and a variety of characters.

WoW requires a monthly subscription, and a WoW account is worth every penny in entertainment value. The best way I’ve found to subscribe is to buy game cards online. You can even buy and sell your WoW characters online. There is a cool site that lets you buy WoW accounts and they guarantee a legitimate and secure transaction since you are using real world dollars.

A fellow WoW gamer told me that if I wanted to sell a WoW account that I should go to the www.buymmoaccounts.com web site and have them handle the transaction. That way I get paid within 24 hours and have no worries.

Too Serious

It seems like everything has been so serious the past couple of months. I wonder what happened to having fun and sharing jokes or funny stories? I can feel the stress building up and the worries piling up, especially since it is Monday and I have a lot to take care of this week.

Today I will make a bigger effort to have a little fun and put my life back into a healthy balance. I decided when I turned 40 to make quality of life a deciding factor in where I go and what I do, and I intend to stick to that personal plan.

The Filly’s Huge Upset

Posted by Jillian - May 16th, 2009

As long as I can remember, we have been fans of the Kentucky Derby and the Triple Crown of horse racing. We are not gamblers and don’t bet on the winners. We just enjoy watching a good race and cheering for our favorites to win. I can’t imagine putting money into a ticket to bet on which horse is going to win a race. That would take away the fun for me.

The Kentucky Derby has always been the “run for the roses,” held in Louisville at the Churchill Downs track. The next race in the Triple Crown is the Preakness, which is held in Pimlico, Maryland. Then the final race is the Belmont, held in Saratoga, New York.

The ultimate achievement in horse racing is to win all three of these races and earn the Triple Crown, a very tough feat only achieved by a handful of horses in all the years of racing.

This year the horse that won the Kentucky Derby was a longshot, Mine That Bird. That horse was entered in today’s Preakness, but the jockey was switched, and the winner of the Preakness was again a longshot surprise, Rachel Alexandra. The surprise in today’s race was that she was filly and not a colt, and that she had drawn the 13th pole position. No one has ever won this race from the 13th pole position before. Mine That Bird came in second.

We are all waiting to see if both of these winners will be entered into the Belmont and if either one will be able to win two of the three crowns this year.

A Smile

Posted by Jillian - May 14th, 2009

It can be amazing how much a smile can change something, such as an encounter on the sidewalk or talking with a counter clerk. If you approach someone with a smile, it helps put them at ease. Smiles are contagious – if you offer a smile you will most often get a smile from the other person, too. It is a good idea to enter a crowded room with a smile and your head held high. Even if you don’t know anyone there, if you are smiling, they will receive you more readily and I think you’ll agree – most people are more attractive when they are smiling. So smile!

Happy Mother’s Day

If you are a mother, I hope your day is wonderful and spent with loved ones who make you feel special. If you are not a mother, I still hope you have a nice day – but perhaps you can reach out to a mother and make her day special in some way.
Happy Mother’s Day!
