We rented the new Sherlock Holmes movie tonight. It is an interesting movie. The personalities of Holmes and Watson as portrayed by the writer and the actors are the best part of watching this movie. They have always been figures in my mind, but this time they were actually brought to life.
The story was OK – it kept you watching it. The best talent was the director. The effects and cuts between scenes, the perspectives, the action scenes all made this a very well crafted movie.

Wow! Twenty-five years.
AOL launched on this day in 1985. I remember their first headwuarters building in Reston and how several of our technical support guys and engineering guys abandoned ship at C3 and took jobs with this exciting new internet service provider. They encouraged me to come with them – and I did go walk through the building, talk to their people and decided against it.
They are not even close to the big company they used to be, but they still have some loyal subscribers. Happy Birthday, AOL.

The month of May is only half over and we have already set a record for the most rainfall in one month. The floods were horrible and spread out all over middle Tennessee. Many people are still not close to being cleaned up, and here we have two more days of rain this weekend. I am so sick of the mud and the humidity! We need a week of no rain and a little wind to get things dried out and back to normal.

This is downtown at the riverfront. They say the Cumberland will not crest until later tonight. The waters have crept up to second avenue businesses already. I truly hope that they don’t go as high as Fourth Avenue – that would put the Ryman in danger of being flooded.

Three days of rain and we are having serious problems with flooding. There are areas of homes completely under water. Other areas have people trapped in their attics and on their roofs with no way to safely escape the rising waters. Flash flooding has made many roads impassable.
My home is on high ground and I’m sure that we are safe here. But I am very worried about many friends and co-workers who live in other areas and may be in danger.
