I’ve been thinking about getting a wireless microphone system to donate to the community center. There have just been so many times in the past year that I went to some type of event there and had people trying to talk loudly enough to be heard but were just not capable of talking loudly. I guess it is a blessing and a curse that I have a loud voice that just naturally carries!
Anyway, I was reading a consumer alert on a wireless microphone system for sale that really surprised me – it was an alert that said the operator of the wireless microphone system does not need a license to operate the system! At first I thought it was some kind of a joke. Some websites will have little jokes scattered around the site to make the readers laugh. But when I read the further details it became clear to me that the alert was no joke. Apparently there really are some wireless microphone systems that do require an FCC license! My guess for the reasoning behind that is over concern that radio waves might interfere with emergency personnel radio signals. But it really did surprise me!
