100 Things
In no particular order:
- Love a good cup of coffee. Emphasis on “good.” First thing in the morning.
- Afternoon quiet time involves a cup of hot tea and a cookie.
- Green tea preferred when hot. Luzzianne tea preferred on ice.
- Any cookie by Pepperidge Farms is delicious.
- Long time ice hockey fan. I can’t skate much but I admire the ones who can not only skate but slap a puck into the net and who will fight if they must.
- Favorite pro hockey team: Nashville Predators
- Most hated hockey team: San Jose Sharks
- Favorite pro football team: Washington Redskins
- Most hated pro football team: Dallas Cowboys
- Don’t smoke. Never have.
- Play cards for fun. Play Spades for money.
- Started out with two younger sisters. Ended up with another step sister, two step brothers and four half brothers. Quite a crew!
- I don’t wear a watch – I refuse to be a slave to time.
- Thanks to my father who insisted I “try it,” I can eat just about anything and like most of it.
- Blue Bell ice cream. Blue Bell’s “homemade vanilla and strawberry” will always be in my freezer, occasionally along with their butter pecan and their peaches and cream.
- Sipping on a well made Mojito watching the waves break on the sand is like heaven on earth.
- Sipping on a “hot toasted nut coffee” in a slope side hot tub at a ski resort is the second best heaven on earth experience you can have.
- I miss the Ed Sullivan show.
- Favorite restaurant: Longhorn Steakhouse. Everything on the menu is AWESOME.
- Every trip to Chicago has been a great time. I love the Windy City. Don’t want to live there but I love to go visit!
- Love to take pictures – I carry a digital camera with me everywhere I go.
- I don’t play the lottery. Just don’t like the odds.
- Didn’t go to Woodstock – my parents would have totally freaked out at the very idea and I was only 16. Kinda wish I had snuck away and gone anyway, but I’m not a sneaky person and I’ve never wanted to disappoint my parents.
- Always did very well in school. Churning out the homework was easy, taking tests was easy. But I hated gym.
- My first crush on a movie star was Clint Eastwood. I bought the poster for “A Few Dollars More” and put it at the foot of my bed so I could see him every night before falling asleep.
- If I could set my own schedule I would never go to bed before 2 am and never get up before noon. *sigh* Well, 10 at the earliest.
- I’m not a bird watcher but I see birds all the time. I notice a lot of owls (dozens over the years) and I’ve seen a great many eagles. I love chickadees and cardinals, and put out a hummingbird feeder every summer to watch the hummingbirds.
- One of the all time best live concerts that I’ve seen was ZZ Top with their awesome laser light show.
- The very first concert I saw was one of the first Jefferson Airplane concerts. Their light show was a filmstrip project showing tie die art-type designs on a screen behind the band. It was a tiny, unusual venue and it rocked.
- Comfort food is meatloaf with whipped potatoes and brown beef gravy, a side of peas and something sinfully sweet for dessert.
- I like cold meatloaf sandwiches the next day, too.
- I am a good shot with both rifle and pistol. Once beat out all the local guys, including my husband, in a turkey shoot. He was mad for a month – but it was worth it.
- I remember life before pizza delivery. The first pizza delivered was from Dominoes – pepperoni.
- The last pizza delivered (yesterday) was from Pizza Hut – sausage and mushroom.
- My mother was a beautiful woman and loved fashion. We shared a love for nice clothes.
- The first vehicle I bought with my own money was a red 1968 Honda 100 motorcycle.
- The second vehicle I bought with my own money was a blue 1972 Mercury Capri.
- My current vehicle is a little green Mazda SUV that I found on Craigslist.
- I hate having a cell phone, but I travel and I need it.

- I love cantalopes and eat half a melon every day while they are in season.
- I love avocados and eat at least one every week.
- My father was a talented musician and entertainer. He could play every instrument but the guitar and banjo, because he had broken his fingers while serving in the Navy and couldn’t hold the strings.
- My mother used to sing and dance – she used to be in amateur shows and has performed for thousands of people in the Washington DC area.
- Musical talents run through my entire family, and I appreciate all the music genres except rap.
- My car needs a new engine. I’ll have to drive it until it stops running and then I’ll find a way to pay for the new engine. Hope that is not anytime soon.
- A mani-pedi is a luxury that I give myself when I need a treat.
- Don’t like to get a haircut. It never seems to turn out like I had in mind. Why can’t I communicate with people who cut hair?
- Just bought a Jamey Johnson CD. I don’t really like all the songs, but I wanted to support a hard working, talented songwriter, so I bought it. Then I found out how he is a drunk and a womanizer and I wish I hadn’t spent my money on the loser.
- Also bought a Jack Johnson CD. I love all his songs – even the silly kids songs.
- My next indulgence will be a pair of cowboy boots. Nice ones.
- Do not have a green thumb. I love plants and flowers but can’t seem to raise them anymore.
- Hate cleaning the bathroom.
- Don’t mind loading the dishwasher and washing up the pots and pans.
- Love to cook, especially for a crowd.
- I leave the TV on all night in case of tornadoes. Local TV broadcasts a loud warning alarm that wakes you up.
- Radio in Nashville sucks. For “Music City,” it is embarrassing.
- Next place I’d like to visit on Vacation: Mexico.
- Last place I visited: Chattanooga. *Sigh*
- I hate banks. Wish the Government had not bailed them out. They deserve to fail.
- First kiss with a guy was after a dance at St. Andrews church, in the parking lot when he walked me to my car. It was awesome.
- I’ve been to three high school reunions – they were great fun.

- My fantasy date would involve a candlelight dinner on the patio of a small restaurant overlooking the Mediterranean, with music playing softly in the background and lots of good wine.
- I’m not afraid of dogs. I love them and respect them, but I’m not afraid to protect myself if I have to.
- My favorite chocolates are Godiva. I especially love the dark chocolate leaf filled with rasberry cream – hard to find but worth the search.
- One of my favorite memories of Virginia is taking the kids camping in the Appalachian mountains.
- One of my favorite memories of New Jersey is going from DC to Atlantic City in a limo with two of my friends and making a pact that we would stay there until we collectively lost all the money. OMG – what a fun crazy weekend that was.
- One of my favorite memories of Maryland is a weekend in Annapolis sailing, dancing, dining and sleeping in a quaint B&B with a Clint Eastwood look alike. *sigh*
- One of my favorite memories of West Virginia is rafting and tubing down the Shenandoah River at Harpers Ferry. I was terrified of the first float and then hooked on white water after that.
