Our Current Big Baby Boy Boom

Has anyone else noticed that we are having a bit of a baby boom? Maybe it is just my circle of family and friends that are currently going through this baby business, but it seems like this year I have been bombarded with invitations to baby showers and announcements of new babies landing in my mailbox at the end of the drive way and in my email inbox as well. There is no where else to hide, yikes!

My sister’s sister-in-law just had a surprise birth announcement in her family, so I am sure that I will go buy some receiving blankets and a few little outfits for her new granddaughter here in the near future, then wrap them up and get them in the mail. This is the first girl to arrive of all the other births this year. Everyone else has been having baby boys. And these baby boys are coming out big and strong. I haven’t heard of one yet that isn’t at least nine pounds!

The one thing about baby showers that I enjoy is the shopping for the presents. There is nothing quite like going into a nice up scale baby store and enjoy looking at and touching all the wonderful baby clothes and all of the other tons of baby related items. They always smell so nice and usually everything is extremely soft. I would never order something for a baby over the Internet, that would suck any enjoyment out of the whole ordeal!

Now That’s a Good Bugera

Wasn’t quite sure what a good Bugera amp really was when my sister asked me to help her find a good Bugera amp online in time to give to her middle son for his 16th birthday on November 15th. But it didn’t take long by going online and doing a bit of research to find out what the heck this particular Bugera is all about and I did find a good one that I think they will all be happy with. If not I guess it can be returned. Let’s hope it doesn’t come to that though. Such a let down and a pain in the rear to have to return something no matter how easy the company makes the process.

Greeting Cards

Yesterday I had to buy a couple of birthday cards for the busy birthday month of September that is fast approaching. March and September are chock full of birthdays and I still like sending a real birthday card in the U.S. Mail to my loved ones. These days so many people are sending their birthday wishes via the Internet and to me it just leaves a lot to be desired, it’s just so impersonal, although it certainly is easier, quicker and cheaper. Each time I go to buy a card I cringe when I turn it over and see the price that they are charging.

Maybe if the greeting card industry would lower the price of these cards, folks might start using them again. Just a thought.

What do you think?

I was just reading a fellow blogger’s blog post about nomorerack reviews and was surprised that she was typing about a nomorerack scam where people were complaining about slow shipping. To be perfectly honest I had not heard of the website at all until a couple of weeks ago when my sister sent me an email about it, telling me to check it out.

Since then I’ve bought a couple of items because they were really good deals; too good to pass up! And with a lot of family birthdays coming up really soon, I can certainly use the help of some really nice presents for really low prices! One of the problems of today’s society, in my humble opinion, is the deeply entrenched desire for instant gratification. We have turned into an instant gratification society. And that, my friends, is probably the biggest reason why so many of us are deeply in debt. When we see something that we want, we want it NOW, we refuse to WAIT.

I can remember when I was younger, I would drive to work every day past a house that was only the foundation. A family was actually living in that foundation. I remember driving past that foundation for many years, feeling sorry for the family that lived there. I would think that the family that lived there must really be dirt poor if they were forced to live in a foundation only. And then, after about fifteen years of driving past that occupied foundation I saw a little bit of construction going on. Within a week there was an entire big house framed up on top of that foundation, and within a month it appeared that the family was now living in a really nice completed cape cod style cottage complete with raised dormers on the second floor.

Apparently the family that was thought to be so incredibly poor that I felt sorry for them were putting off their desires for instant gratification and were living in the foundation while saving their money until they had enough to build the entire building, without having to apply for a mortgage! What an accomplishment that was!

Well, I’m trying harder now to delay my gratification and shop smarter, getting the best bargains possible. I think that this nomorerack website is one way to shop smarter and get more bang for the buck. Check it out for yourself and let me know what you think!
