Greeting Cards

Yesterday I had to buy a couple of birthday cards for the busy birthday month of September that is fast approaching. March and September are chock full of birthdays and I still like sending a real birthday card in the U.S. Mail to my loved ones. These days so many people are sending their birthday wishes via the Internet and to me it just leaves a lot to be desired, it’s just so impersonal, although it certainly is easier, quicker and cheaper. Each time I go to buy a card I cringe when I turn it over and see the price that they are charging.

Maybe if the greeting card industry would lower the price of these cards, folks might start using them again. Just a thought.

Personalized golf balls

Guest post by Dana Goodings

As usual, my hubby has asked me to find a good birthday present for his older brother. They have not gotten along ever, in their entire lives and to be perfectly honest I don’t understand why we even bother giving him the time of day! He never gives me any gifts or cards or even acknowledges my existence! So I get really aggravated when the chore of buying a gift for him gets written on my “to-do” list.

In order to make this as fast and as painless as possible, I’ve decided to order him some personalized golf balls at GolfBox.com for his birthday and just have them shipped directly to his house.

Working With MS Word Templates

Last night a friend mentioned that he was going to a gathering and wished he had a business card to hand out to the people he meets. But his position at the company where he works does not warrant a business card, so he doesn’t have anything to hand out.

I suggested that he make up some personal calling cards, instead. I told him that back in the day, a lot of people who didn’t work were still active socially and wanted to hand out a card with their name and contact information on it. So the use of calling cards was born.

He thought it was a good idea, but had no idea how to make it happen. So I volunteered to make up a small batch of calling cards for him. I thought it would be easy – just make up something using a Microsoft Word template.

Well, they say no good deed goes unpunished. I have been having a lot of trouble with the Word templates. I want to put a different graphic on the card and move the alignment of the type. But for some reason the graphic gets messed up when I try to insert it. I’m so frustrated!

The funny thing is that I don’t HAVE to use this particular graphic. I just liked it better than the one that comes on the template. My friend doesn’t even know I an trying to use something different and will be happy with the old one. I’m just aggravated that I can’t get MS Word to work the way I need it to work.
