Decorating Almonds

There are artists who can look at an every day object and then find a creative way to decorate it. That is the kind of imagination that I truly envy. I have some artistic abilities, but they usually require some visual inspiration, such as a landscape or a still life grouping. Every once in a while I have a spurt of pure imagination and the painting or drawing comes from deep inside my brain.

JordanAlmondFavors

I found these cute decorated Jordan almonds that are used as a party favor of inexpensive holiday gift. This is the artistic talent that I don’t seem to have on my own, although now that I’ve seen this I can run with the idea. I can even go a step further and paste three of the white almonds together with marzipan and then make them into little snowmen. After all Christmas is really right around the corner and coming at us full speed ahead!!

Frozen yogurt smoothies

Today I was hungry for lunch and did not really have time to stop and eat. So I ducked into a little frozen yogurt shoppe and ordered a strawberry and blueberry smoothie. The lady behind the counter was very pleasant, but we had a hard time communicating for a couple of reasons. The place was noisy – one of the machines was making a loud racket. She also was from a country where English was not spoken. I don’t know if she was from Korea, or Vietnam, or China, or Japan, but she spoke with a very thick accent that made it difficult to understand what she was saying. Even trying to lip read was difficult, so we resorted to pointing to the signs.

In the end, I got a smoothie, but I don’t think that it was healthy at all. There were no real bits of fruit in it, so I think it was just flavored with sugar-laden (or corn syrup laden) syrups along with the frozen yogurt that was added. Note to self – don’t go there again thinking that I’ll be drinking a nutritious smoothie – it isn’t nutritious at all. Just another high-calorie drink that tastes like a milk-shake!

What Are You Planting?

seeds

If your first answer to my question, “What are you planting?” was a vegetable or fruit or flower, you missed the point of my cute graphic.

Of course we are all planting tomatoes and peppers and squash. Maybe some beans and corn. And I always plant some flower seeds in the front yard, near the mailbox, every Spring, too.

But don’t forget to plant seeds of kindness, too. You will be amazed at what a few kind words can do!
