Burger King In The News Again

Over the past couple of weeks I have been hearing that Burger King is in troubleĀ  with traces of horse meat being found in their popular and famous Whoppers over in the U.K. I don’t think any has been found in the burgers being sold over here in the states, thank goodness, since I tend to eat at Burger King a couple of times a month. I had to stop going to McDonald’s, because their food just doesn’t taste good to me any more. I used to love their $1 sweet tea, but that has started to taste too sweet and it makes my teeth hurt just thinking about drinking their sweet tea.

Burger King In The News

Burger King

Thinking about the possibility of having horse meat placed in any of my food doesn’t set well with me. But there certainly could be worse things than horse meat that really make my stomach upset just thinking about the possibilities. I guess that is the chance that we take when we eat out and are at the mercy of the people in charge in the ordering, the preparing and the serving of our orders. I know a lot of people that refuse to eat out because of all of the horrible possibilities that are involved when you place your trust in anyone other than yourself.

Hungry for Something Different

Sometimes I just get sick of my own cooking. Do you know what I mean? I feel like my dinner menus are in a rut. The same thing, night after night. I need some inspiration. Even better, I need to go out to a restaurant for dinner and not have to cook at all.

Although I have several favorite restaurants in the area, I know there must be dozens that I have never tried. Sometimes you just have to take a chance on something new and try a new place or a new entree. I can’t make up my mind if I should try a new entree of just totally get out of my comfort zone and try a new restaurant. Maybe something ethnic? Only problem with that is if I try something that I don’t know in advance what it is supposed to taste like, how do I know they did a good job with that dish?

Hot Dog Styles

Its been a long time since I went to a Sonic restaurant, but I had the chance to drive in today and order a milkshake. They make some of the best milkshakes in town, and they have a happy hour special of buy one get one free. So, my sister and I decided to treat ourselves to milkshakes.

While reading the menu board, I noticed that they have a special promotion for different kinds of hot dogs. I didn’t realize that there are so many different styled of hot dogs, with differences in the hot dogs themselves, different kinds of buns, and then all kinds of different toppings and condiments. You could eat a different hot dog every day of the week!

Of course, a hot dog every day is not going to be the healthiest choice you can make, and I don’t recommend it. But, still!

Sweet tea

When I first moved into this area it took me a while to get used to the fact that when I would go into a restaurant and order “tea” for my drink that I had to specify either “hot” or “iced.” And if I want “iced” I have to specify “sweet” or unsweetened. I’m not sure how many spoons of sugar are in the restaurants “sweet” iced tea, but it is very sweet, so I imagine that the tea is loaded with calories. I find myself wishing that “sweet” tea could come sweetened with Truvia instead of sugar because then it would be calorie free. When I order the tea “unsweetened” and then add the Truvia to it myself it just isn’t quite as good because it is more difficult for the Truvia to melt into the tea once it has cooled down. I have tried it a few times and for the most part the Truvia settles down to the bottom of the cup pretty quickly, no matter how much I stir the tea in the glass.
